Pregnancy, psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis

In a study published in Seminars in Arthritis and Rheumatism, Canadian researchers have found that psoriatic arthritis disease activity improves or stabilised during pregnancy. They also found similar outcomes with those who had psoriasis.

The conclusions from the study paper said:

“The outcome of pregnancy among patients with psoriatic arthritis is excellent. Arthritis activity trends toward a favourable course while the skin disease shows a favourable course during pregnancy. When compared to controls, pregnancy period has significant beneficial influence only on the skin but not on the joints in psoriatic arthritis.”
