I'm desperate for some help.
I'm just wanting to email the hospital this morning with some recent changes to my spine and feel they are massively failing me at present. I was hoping to get as much information on the website first around spinal issues in general.
I'm experiencing some very obvious changes and constant back pain both upper and lower back that is evident in pictures taken yesterday. They just dismiss it, and Ive never even had anyone examine my back not even take a look at it. They just pass it off as wear and tear due to no inflammation being detected on an MRI almost a year ago but did identify disc issues. I have also been referred to Orthopaedics for the damage to my knee and the ability to walk on it but they are doing nothing about my back.
They have refused my request for recent X-rays or scans and after 2 failed dmards (first MTX I developed a nasty rash after 2 attempts and they wanted me to try for a third time! Second was leflunomide which I don’t feel has given me one ounce of benefit only badly side effects to which the same consultant who wanted to put me on a failing med 3 times decided if I didn’t want to continue taking it would have to leave me unmedicated for 3 months after the briefest 60 second feel of my joints, to find no inflammation present and then go back after 3 months. Even despite after each appointment with the nurse who identified inflamed and tender joints and documented my back pain.)
Im getting very worried about the long term and potential disabling irreversible damage this could cause. Im so sorry for the such long winded message and almost rant but I’m at that point I don’t know where else to turn and who to offload to.
It’s the second time this hospital has let me down I could go on some time about it over these last 18 mths, my mental health is at its lowest and Ive lost my Mum and close Auntie within the last 6 months so all the stress is exacerbating everything and I’m still expected to carry on as normal, go to work, care for my 3 children be in constant pain and not be listened to and access the care I should be entitled to.
Can you please help, from a desperate unmedicated mum, wife, and employee! Many thanks x
Also if I popped a picture of my back could someone tell me if it looks inflamed and could quite possibly be PsA. It feels, tender swollen and spongy. I do respect that no one is medically trained to give that opinion but I just wanted to access the site for any similar accounts. Thank you
